    • SNL just blew the opening Charlie Sheen skit. Going to bed instead of watching this unfunny show. #winning 8 years ago
    • Best idea I've heard so far this week - have Charlie Sheen host next year's Oscars. Highest ratings ever! 8 years ago
    • I still can't believe that Kathryn Bigelow directed Point Break. I am an EFF-BEE-EYE agent. #oscars 8 years ago
    • Wow, first the Globes and now the Oscars fail to recognize Corey Haim. Feldman's gonna be pissed. 8 years ago

Fischer’s Friday Five

I’ve got an apple pie in the oven and Maggie’s watching the last 15 minutes of some Housewives show, I think it’s Cleveland-based, I don’t know, so I’m going to ditch my usual classy style and bust out a quick Top 5 for all y’all and then you’re free to enjoy your weekend. Again, be warned, this is being written quick with zero thought or spell check – basically no different then every other blog post.

I’m Jarrett, It’s Friday, and here’s my five…

TOP FIVE VAL KILMER MOVIES

The Before (1980s Val)

Thank you Burke Bowen for the suggestion.  Since Val Kilmer is probably dead in a ditch somehow, this post can serve as a tribute to him.  Plus, he hasn’t been relevant since tanking as Batman, so he’s not really worth of much of a write-up

Honorable Mention: Really?  Do you know how hard it was to come up with five good movies on the spot?

Dishonorable Mention: Top Gun (Iceman was gay, re-watch and tell me I’m wrong), Batman Forever, everything after 1997

The Saint

Bonus points for Elizabeth Shue (who will be part of a future Fischer Friday Five).  This movie may have been the beginning of the end of Val’s career

Tombstone

I’m your Huckleberry.

The Doors

Perfect casting, could be higher if Meg Ryan wasn’t in it.

Real Genius

25 years later and this movie still holds up.  Wish I could said the same for just about everyone in this movie.  Gabriel Jarret, William Atherton, Michelle Meyrink, Robert Prescott.  It’s like a Who’s Who of Who???? catalog.  Most famous person now from that movie is probably Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite.

Heat

Come on, I’d call you stupid for disagreeing, but the timer for the oven just went off.

The After (R.I.P. Val)

Oh yeah, before I forget…

STEELERS (-3.5) over Jets
PREDICTION: Pittsburgh 24-20

BEARS (+3.5) over Packers
PREDICTION: Green Bay 23-20

  1. Heat over Real Genius? And no mention of Top Secret? You’re drunk
